About Trondhjems Sjøfartsmuseum

The main task of the Trondheim Maritime Museum is to preserve, exhibit, and tell the maritime history of Trondheim and its surrounding region, and we are proud to be hosted in one of Trondheim's oldest brick houses - a former guardhouse from the 18th century. The building is listed and is owned by the Trondheim Port Authority.

SDS Hansteen

In 2015, operational responsibility for "Hansteen" was transferred to the Museums of Southern Trøndelag (MiST), represented by the Trondheim Maritime Museum.

Sverresborg Trøndelag Folk Museum

The Trondheim Maritime Museum is a part of the Museums of Southern Trøndelag (MiST) and became a subdivision of the Sverresborg Trøndelag Folk Museum on 1 January 2020.

MiST is one of the region's major cultural institutions and consists of 12 museums and 25 visitors' centres. By collecting, taking care of and presenting our cultural heritage, they intend to provide knowledge and experiences to all audiences.
